James Madison, chief architect of our United States Constitution:
“We have staked the future of all our political institutions upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves according to The Ten Commandments.”
George Washington, who prayed all the time, in 1775 sponsored our first flag, the Appeal to Heaven flag on the 6 ships he could afford to commission. The British Navy at the time was the largest in the world with 270 ships. George Washington said when an individual or a body of people have no appeal on earth, they may always and are encouraged to appeal to Heaven. Our founders appealed to Heaven and look at the result against overwhelming odds. I am encouraging everyone to pray for our country daily and to do their part to safeguard Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
By 1814 there had been over 1400 U.S. Government calls to prayer.
General Robert E. Lee urged in 1863:
“Knowing that intercessory prayer is our mightiest weapon and the supreme call for all Christians today, I pleadingly urge our people everywhere to pray. Believing that prayer is the greatest contribution that our people can make in this critical hour, I humbly urge that we take time to pray — to really pray. Let there be prayer at sunup, at Noonday, at sundown, at midnight — all throughout the day. Let us pray for our children, our youth, our aged, our pastors, our homes. Let us pray for the churches.”
The Unity Prayer
My adorable Jesus
May our hands gather in. unity.
May our hearts beat in unison.
May our should be in harmony.
May our thoughts be as one.
May our ears listen to the silent together.
May our glances profoundly penetrate each other.
May our lips pray together to gain mercy from the Eternal Father. Amen.
